I came across this forwarded message, and then.. my school frnds passed by my mind.. I dedicate these beautiful words n moments I shared with my Classmates .. who seem to be too busy in their life 🙂 . Guys do have a look at the end of this post to have a glimpse of our blessed place..
When the school reopened in June,
And we settled in our new desks and benches!
When we queued up in book depot,
And got our new books and notes!
When we wanted two Sundays and no Mondays, yet
managed to line up daily for the morning prayers.
We learnt writing with slates and pencils, and
Progressed To fountain pens and ball pens and then Micro tips!
When we began drawing with crayons and evolved to
Color pencils and finally sketch pens!
When we started calculating
first with tables and then with
Clarke’s tables and advanced to
Calculators and computers!
When we chased one another in the corridors
in Intervals, and returned to the classrooms
Drenched in sweat!
When we had lunch in classrooms, corridors, Playgrounds,
under the trees and even in cycle sheds!
When all the colors in the world,
Decorated the campus on the Second Saturdays!
When a single P.T. period in the week’s Time Table,
Was awaited more eagerly than the monsoons!
When cricket was played with writing pads as bats,
And Neckties and socks rolled into balls!
When few played
“kabadi” and “Kho-Kho” in scorching sun,
While others simply played
“book cricket” in the Confines of classroom!
Of fights but no conspiracies,
Of Competitions but seldom jealousy!
When we used to watch Live Cricket telecast,
In the opposite house in Intervals and Lunch breaks!
When few rushed at 5:00 to
“Conquer” window seats in our School bus!
While few others had “Big Fun”, “peppermint” ,
“kulfi”, ” milk ice !” and “sharbat !” at 4o Clock!
Gone are the days
Of Sports Day,
and the annual School Day ,
And the one-month long
preparations for them.
Gone are the days
Of the stressful Quarterly,
Half Yearly and Annual Exams, And the most
enjoyed holidays after them!
Gone are the days
Of tenth and twelfth standards, when
We Spent almost the whole year writing revision tests!
We learnt, We enjoyed,
We played, We won,
We lost, We laughed,
We cried, We fought,
We thought.
With so much fun in them, so many friends,
So much experience, all this and more!
Gone are the days
When we used
to talk for hours with our friends!
Now we don’t have time to say a `Hi’!
Gone are the days
When we played games on the road!
Now we Code on the road with laptop!
Gone are the days
When we saw stars Shining at Night!
Now we see stars when our code doesn’t Work!
Gone are the days
When we sat to chat with Friends on grounds!
Now we chat in chat rooms…..!
Gone are the days
Where we studied just to pass!
Now we study to save our job!
Gone are the days
Where we had no money in our pockets and still fun filled on our hearts!!
Now we have the atm as well as credit card but with an empty heart!!
Gone are the days
Where we shouted on the road!
Now we don’t shout even at home
Gone are the days
Where we got lectures from all!
Now we give lectures to all… like the one I’m doing now……!!
Gone are the days
But not the memories, which will be
Lingering in our hearts forever and ever and
Ever and ever and ever …..
Gone are the Days…. But still there are lot more Days to come in our
Life!!
NO MATTER HOW BUSY YOU ARE ,
DONT FORGET TO LIVE THE LIFE THAT STILL
EXISTS……
Where did you get your blog layout from? I’d like to get one like it for my blog.
Hi ,thanks for reminding those golden days,it felt like just painting a rusted good old memories which r unforgetble ,the pics the lines r true n heart touching ,its really mindblowing ,hatsof to ur work
Great Job done. Preeti!!!!!!!
In our day to day life, we come across so many things, that we just start forgetting to our golden days of our life…but if some makes us to remember those days…it brings a smile on our face while going through that..and it really makes us to feel very happy.
What ever we did in those days, though they seems to be so silly and meaningless, but still they remain in our memories…..
It was like just a short flashback for me when I saw MCC school bldg. and also that corridor , if I still remember..there we have section IIIA,IIIB,IVA & IVB…….am i rt. preeti?
Always peeping from der to the first floor….for our Ibrahim ringing the school bell. Aajka school khatam.Chalo bittu gilli —daandu khelenge….and that stupid always says..naibe chaari gooti khelenge…ha h aha. That stupid is my closest friend siddharth…wohi uska style tha…
Tons of Thanks to Preeti………….
Thanks for taking us back to school.
Frankly speaking…there was continous smile on my face while reading….
Also interesting thing was my roommates, while I was reading were laughing at me….”Abe kya huva..terko..akele akele kyon haas raha hai..kya koi ladki online hai kya..?”…..those stupid guys never understood what was the reason…ha haha..but I really enjoyed while reading.
Wow! This is too good 🙂 And the above comment is the longest I’ve seen!
Cheers 🙂
Whether someone agreez or not, it’s a gr8 work, preety…
As those cherished moments are easy to recollect in memories but very tuf to pen down.
Your words were a journey back to those “halla gulla” dayz . Ur presentation is realy gud..,
I really appreciate ur creativity of attachin th snaps together, of the present boyz n Past school, n th ikon, Khadeer sir… it adds lyf to ur words..
If Kadeer sir, wud hav read ur blog, he might have said, “ tu meri beeti jaisey hiii likthi hai.,,, Bahut smart hai tu..”
Reading between ur lines, I also recollect those moments of fun when, we used to bunk classes sayin we have to practice for skit/advertisement imitation/ Group song n such
co-currriculars..
Now, wen I listen to my own voice, i wonder, who was th person who took me to th singin group, ..
Do u remember we goin to school together. Being th nxt door people, that was a routine matter n we continued tat ritual until my house got relocated.
Then ther r Saturday memories, wen we used to be late n had to stand outside th gate, then as th assembly getz over, hear a Sweet melodious lecture by Sr.Loudes
“U jungle’y creatures, I wil punish u mercilessly.. . n it goes on……….”
Test n Exam dayz were always a horrendous time for me. Itz th time I start my research, prepare a questionare n take a survey from th so called studious brains ..
the questionare has only one question in it “ imp points kya kya hai bay?????”
Itz then that those experts [ especially ajit, shobit, purshot n santosh] open th book n by their sixth sense locate some portion which they feel as core pointz of th subject, n helped me to get thru my exam barriers.
Another intrestin moments for me was “Group studies” wit veerendra, wher we used to spend everyday, PLANNING , how to utilize th Remainin dayz b4 exam…
Goin back to my primary dayz.. “do u remember we together sittin n studyin kannada”. Ur mummy were th coach for my mom… , I used to write th exams better than u but u bagged off much more marks , everytime th resuls came.. I wonder how u managed it.
Thankz for this Nostalgic journey u hav presented …..
keep up th gr8 work, n kep writing…
Loved those dayz, wher ther was jus “selfless love” among all.
Itz very true wat u said in ur startin pharse of this blog, all r busy in their own ventures,
Hardly time to contact each other.. but th strong bond still exists as told by jagjit singh: “haath chootey bhi tho…. rishtey nahi thoda kartey hain”
I believ all our classmates wud love to hav a “get together” to reunite th bond, which has got bit diluted due to distance..
It wil also be a moment to see how much each one has changed, physically [ mentally, some like me wudn hav changed even a bit]
Preety, try to arrange one such “get together”, may be within 2 or 3 years, as I guess u r th person who is contact wit most of our batch mates.
Lets get back those “ GONE DAYS” , ONE DAY.
Hi Again,
Ranju, this is not good…..plse don’t compete with me in writting comments….ha hahhaa..
Such a lenghty comment….but its nice…..
only one word i can say….. Amazing…
hats off to your creativity… & heart touching words….
waise tum kab se itna hoshiyar ban gayeh ho….
sangat ka asar i believe….. 🙂
Every word is so true……
especiallly this one
“Gone are the days
Where we shouted on the road!
Now we don’t shout even at home”
I remember…. me, shobith & venu use to go to school….together… & debate which v started in m’ing use to end at night. & v had so much topics to discuss… even my mom use to wonder… wht u guys hav so much to speak…
The way we use quarel while playing cricket matches….
& our big bully Sid…. use to start fight for every small thing as soon as he use to get OUT!! take away his bat & ball & run home.
Last week, I met one of our school senior over here… we talked for 2 hrs just on khadeer sir…
i cannot forget that day….when half of the class got boxing punches with fabulous comments….
For Chari it was…
“A B C D nahi atta doubt poochta chal pagal….”
For Qutub it was….
“Bhais ke tarah ghoomte raheta aur absent tha bolta…..”
hahahahha cannot forget all of these….
Thanks again Preety…. it was really grt work.

Hey Preeti,
That’s really GR8 of you. HAT”S oFF to your wonderful work
I really wonder how cud you mamage to write such a nice blog(remembering each and single moment I spent in school).
You know something tum ne hamara BACHPAN lautadiya hai.
It really reminded me the old GOLDEN days which were bit faded due to other responsibilties in life 😦
Aise hi likhte rehena, mind fresh ho jata hai aur chere pe muskurahat aajata hai.
Haan one thing before searching a place to arrange get-together plz see to it the location is quite spacious, bcoz… you know our guys…….. mar peet karke kuch thod-phod na le!!!!!! Kise pata purane wale bacche ho jaye u never know!!!!

Hey Preeti, Awesome post. Made me a bit nostalgic too…:)
Man those are some comments..!!!!
Why did u change to wordpress?
Hi,
For the records, I am from the 1980 batch of MCC. Now settled in Delhi for the past 15 years. Prior to that I was in Coimbatore and then in Kolkata. In all these places, I heard about institutions like DPS, Modern School, St. Columbas, Hindu High St.Xaviers, Stanes and what not. These were big cities and I coming from poor MCC thought these were mighty institutions to which MCC was a poor distant relative. Since then, I have learnt that MCC was and I am sure, still is, far ahead of the best schools in India and have become rather snobish about MCC. I am proud to have been educated there and I my education in the hands of the legendary Belur Master, Devaraj Master, Sr. Angelita and Kumari Balakrishnan has rendered me capable of lecturing to the high and mighty in the Nations capital and abroad. I also find that MCC has a sound web presence now. Long live the School and long live its alumni.
Hey Preeti ,
Great Work.
It reminded me of my First Day in MCC when I joined in 6th Standard and the day I left the school and Shahabad.
Thanks a lot
